The end of the Kingdom of Majorca and the death of Jaume III
The Battle of Llucmajor, fought on October 25, 1349, changed the course of Majorca’s history. In it, the troops of King Peter IV of Aragon, known as the Ceremonious, defeated the army of Jaume III, the last king of the independent Kingdom of Majorca.
Jaume III died in combat on the fields of Llucmajor, and with him, Majorcan sovereignty finally disappeared. The Crown of Aragon absorbed the territory, integrating it into its political and administrative structure.
Today, Llucmajor pays tribute to this commemorative event, recalling not only the loss of Majorcan independence, but also the importance of the municipality as the scene of a decisive moment in Mediterranean history.
