Festes de Sant Cristòfol

The summer festivities in the municipality of Llucmajor begin with the celebration of the patron saint of s’Arenal, Saint Christopher, during the first two weeks of July. This seaside town reconnects with its popular roots, from its beginnings as a fishing and stone-cutting village, later becoming a holiday destination for residents, and today a cosmopolitan town with intense tourist activity.

The patron saint, who is also considered the protector of drivers and geganters (those who create and manage the giant figures that parade in traditional festivals), gathers locals and visitors to enjoy a full program organized with the support of various local associations. Parades, ball de bot (a traditional Mallorcan dance), blessing of vehicles, religious services and processions, music, and fireworks, among many other activities. The town’s seafaring tradition is also reflected in the devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, who, together with Saint Christopher, parades through the town and continues by boat at the harbor.

The program is published on the Llucmajor Town Hall website: www.llucmajor.org
