Festes de Santa Càndida

The co-patron saint of the town of Llucmajor is celebrated on the second Sunday of August, although activities take place throughout the first two weeks. The festival flag is raised on the bell tower of the monumental church of Sant Miquel to mark the beginning of the festivities. The program includes music, parades, theatre, workshops to make cabezudos (big-headed figures), religious events, floral offerings, recitals, and many other joyful activities.

During these days, traditional dances can be seen, with the giants (gegants) parading accompanied by bagpipers (xeremiers), demons (dimonis), and caparrots (large heads). The cavallets cotoners complete these traditional manifestations that bring together locals and visitors to enjoy events that keep the town’s intangible heritage alive.

The program is published on the Llucmajor Town Hall website: www.llucmajor.org
