Fundación de la Villa de Llucmajor

When Llucmajor officially became a royal town

In the year 1300, King Jaume II of Mallorca, monarch of the private dynasty of the Kingdom of Mallorca, granted Llucmajor the category of town. Until then, Llucmajor was a hamlet with agricultural settlements, but its growing territorial and economic importance led to this official recognition.

This milestone marked the beginning of the town’s urban and political development, granting it municipal privileges and consolidating it as one of the most important centers in southern Mallorca.

Since then, the town has grown while preserving its Mallorcan identity, with a rich heritage, monuments, and cultural heritage. This anniversary represents the beginning of Llucmajor’s institutional history and is still commemorated as a symbol of its collective identity.
